ICT AND POVERTY ALLEVIATION: THE ROLE OF MOBILE PHONES AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Abstract

The Internet, mobile phones and social media are tools for various forms of communications and interactions which individuals and nations have implemented for development and poverty alleviation. The arrival of wireless technologies in Nigeria and the low tariffs associated with GSM services made mobile applications affordable as tools for e-commerce. Using qualitative methods, this paper presents the impact of mobile phones and social media in wealth creation on Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) organizations in Nigeria
