Prof. Beckley IKHAJIAGBE Ph.D.

Prof. Beckley Ikhajiagbe is a Faculty member at the Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, where he is a Professor of Plant Ecophysiology and Environmental Biotechnology, with more than two decades of experience in research and teaching, he serves to ultimately propel solutions in the areas of Plant Ecophysiology, Remediation Biotechnology, Plant Stress Coping Biology, Bioeconomy, Sustainable Agriculture, natural products resource development, Gene-Environment Interactions, and Plant-Microbe Interactions. Prof. Ikhajiagbe is also researching ways to promote rice and legume development in Southern Nigeria by strengthening plant-microbial interactions for improved nutrient availability, stress tolerance, and yield improvement.
In the previous 10 years, he has supervised over 20 Ph.D., 6 M.Phil., and over 30 M.Sc. candidates. With the support of the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience, he has also successfully hosted over 10 international exchange students from several European universities on internship programmes in his Lab. He has won numerous scientific awards and grants from major grant organizations, as well as serving as an external examiner on several postgraduate examination panels around the country in the fields of Bioeconomy, Plant Ecology, Microbiology, and Sustainable Agriculture. Prof. Ikhajiagbe serves as a resource person on several accreditation panels throughout Nigeria for the Nigerian National University Commission. He also acts as a resource person for some African Centres of Excellence on Environment Standards and Biosafety. He serves on the Appointment and Promotion Boards of several tertiary academic and research institutes as an External Assessor. He is a member of the Technical Working Group of the Africa Biogenome Project (AfricaBP). He also has over 250 journal and book publications to his credit. He serves as an editor for numerous international publications.

Prof. Sese-Owei A. Ekaye Ph.D. NgBIF

Dr. Sese-Owei A. Ekaye is a Professor and Researcher in Ecological Toxicology and Biodiversity Unit of Faculty of Life Sciences of the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. His special area of research is in the use of drones/GIS/remote sensing/computer technologies in resolving environmental degradation and challenges, the use of natural products and resources in amelioration and remediation of disturbed ecosystems, limnology, fisheries, wildlife and oceanography.
He also has several professional certifications; GPS/GIS/Remote Sensing Certification, Survival Swimming Certification with PFD & PPE, Helicopter Underwater Escape Training and Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET). He is author of several scientific papers in reputable journals, locally and international, in addition to two chapters in books and over 30 technical papers and reports. He served as Editors in Tropical Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Benin Science Digest, and a reviewer for various Local and International Journals.
He is a Consultant Ecologist for several companies and a World Bank M&E, ESMP and Need Assessment Consultant. He has not less than 25 years research in the environment of the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria. He is a member of many academic/scholarly associations.

Hakeem Olalekan, Shittu is a Professor in the Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. He obtained his B.Sc. (Botany) with a First Class (Hons.) Division in the then Department of Botany (now Plant Biology and Biotechnology), University of Benin, Benin City. He was retained as a Graduate Assistant in 2000 after his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).The following year, he was awarded the Federal Government of Nigeria scholarship to pursue his M.Sc. Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. In 2004, he was awarded the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan to pursue a Ph.D. Degree (Molecular Biology and Genetics) in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada where he also enjoyed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship. He is a Fellow of the Linnean Society (FLS) of London, United Kingdom. Prof. Shittu has attended several local, national and international conferences in Nigeria, Canada and the United States of America. He has numerous scientific publications in reputable national and international journals. He is also a seasoned public speaker, who has earned several international awards in public speaking career and won several prizes in speech contests. His area of research is in molecular basis of plant/pathogen interaction.

Dr. (Mrs.) Omoyemwen Edo-Taiwo is a Lecturer in the Department of Animal and Environmental Biology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. She is an Environmental Parasitologist. She has authored a number of papers in scholarly journals. Dr. (Mrs.) Edo-Taiwo is a member of various national and international academic societies among which are Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), African Amphibian Working Group (AAWG) and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD).
